NIJ recommends the following care instructions for your body armor

• You need to visually inspect your ballistic panel covers on the regular basis.
• If the integrity of the ballistic panel cover is compromised due to any circumstances, you need to immediately notify your department or agency representative.
• Never attempt to fix, repair, or alter your ballistic armor panels. Any modification and/or alteration to the new condition ballistic armor panel may severely impact the integrity of the armor panel and compromise its ballistic performance.
• Once the body armor panel has been shot (even one shot), consider replacing the body armor panel and NEVER use it again for any ballistic protection purposes.
• If the body armor panel is exhibiting any sign of excessive wear or any kind of damage, must be replaced or returned to the manufacturer by the department or agencies that issued the body armor.

How to properly maintain your body armor

• Store your body armor in a climate controlled environment, when not in use.
• Keep your body armor away from direct sunlight.
• Make sure to lay your body armor flat on the ground after use. 
• Wipe your armor panels with a damp cloth when necessary
